Blushing Butterfly

Today I am sharing a card that uses a technique called "Spotlighting".  This is when you stamp an image on your base, then on a scrap piece and you either cut or punch out a portion of the image and fill or color it in and then place it over your original on the base (with or without a layer).  You see the full image but your eye is drawn to the colored in piece.

Featured Product:
Beautiful Day Stamp Set

  • Blushing Bride Base 8 1/2" x 4 1/4", score at 5 1/2" and 8 1/4"
  • For the base layers, add a piece of Smoky Slate 5" x 3 3/4"
  • Add a Very Vanilla piece 4 3/4" x 3 1/2"
    • Stamp the butterfly from Beautiful Day in Archival Black ink
  • For the Spotlight: cut a piece of Blushing Bride 2 5/8" x 2 1/8" and Very Vanilla 2 1/2" x 2"
    • Stamp the same butterfly on the Very Vanilla piece
    • Use your Stampin' Write Markers to color in your butterfly (or your favorite coloring item).  In this case: Blushing Bride & Powder Pink
  • Make your banner using Blushing Bride cardstock 1/2" x 3"
    • Stamp your sentiment in Archival black ink
    • Snip the end to create the banner look
    • Attach to your card front using dimensionals
  • Before attaching it to the Blushing Bride base, add a piece of Black Shimmer Ribbon

When you unfold, this is what you get

  • On the inside, be sure to add a piece of Very Vanilla 5 1/4" x 4"
