Banner Surprise: shakin' things up!

I still have a few more to share before we move on to other things :). These two cards are shaker cards I made using the Banner Surprise Paper Pumpkin kit and a few extra pieces.

When we saw the sneak peek for this kit, we saw sequins.  I don't know about you but when I see sequins, I think shaker card!  This was destined to be.

The base of the card is Tip Top Taupe cardstock.  For the shaker portion, I had cut down one of the cards from the kit so that I had a piece 3 1/2 X 5 (in the future, I would go a little wider on this... It was tight).  I added a white background piece that was 3 5/8 X 5 1/8 (in the future, I would not worry about making it look like a layer and just make it an equal size backing for the shaker portion.  That will make lining it up a little easier).

Here's how I did it.  I punched 1 3/4 inch circles in the top piece, laid it on my whisper white backing and did all of the stamping right through the holes.  Next, I attached a window sheet to the back of it.  Then we used Stampin' Up's amazing new Dimensional strips and created circles of dimensional around each of the circles.  Here's the fun part... Add the sequins and then pull off the backing from the dimensionals.  Now attach your backing to the dimensional/sequin piece.  Finally, attach the entire shaker piece to your base card.  Voila!

This one is a quick 3X3 card.  It started out as part of the card above, but just didn't work.  I didn't like the Peekaboo Peach with the Tip Top Taupe, so it turned into it's own card.

This one was a little easier than the one above.  It's square so that's easier right away!  I started by creating the frame of Peekaboo Peach using the new Layering Squares Framelits.  Attach a window sheet to the frame and set aside.  Stamp your 3X3 base, attach dimensional strips to the frame piece to create your shaker area.  Add your sequins and attach.  These pieces were the same 3X3 size, so lining it up was pretty easy this time.

Quick tip!  At OnStage2016, a demonstrator shared that when you are making a shaker card, before you peel off the dimensional backing, run your embossing buddy around the inside of the frame/sequin area.  This will take any "stick" away from the sides of your dimensional allowing your shaker card to shake freely without pieces getting  stuck.  Brilliant!
