Wonderfully Wasted: Masking 1

Wonderfully Wasted Wendesday's... Wasting Washi Tape ;)

If you liked my envelope cover up last week, then you'll love this week's Washi tape wasting.  Did you know that you can use Washi tape to mask?  I have done masking before but I use a sticky note or my fingers or I carefully put a dot of snail and hope it doesn't rip my paper when I take it off.  Well, this is even better!

Washi tape is so nice to our papers (most of the time) that it works great for this masking techinque.  First, let's take a look at the card.

I have to admit that I did not like Blushing Bride when it first came out but once it was paired with Early Espresso and Crumb Cake I was IN LOVE.  So here are the details of the card:
The card base is Blushing Bride with layers of Early Espresso and Whisper White.  The Ink colors used are Blushing Bride, Early Espresso and Crumb Cake as well as markers.  I have used stamp sets Gorgeous Grunge and BYOP.  I finished it off by adding a rhinestone.

Here's how you mask...

Take a scrap piece of paper the size you want your mask to be and attach it to your stamping surface using Washi tape.

Next you stamp.  All over that masking piece and your card to create the banner piece/background that you want.

The Washi tape allows you to remove your mask easily.  So now I have a clear space on my card to put my greeting.

I stamped my greeting and then added the other finishing touches to create the card you saw at the beginning of the post.
